Africa Investment Forum: Bouchouarab meets with Arab counterparts in Sharm El-Sheikh

 

CAIRO (Egypt)- Minister of Industry and Mining Abdessalem Bouchouareb has met with many of his Arab counterparts and businessmen participating in the Africa Investment Forum, which got underway Saturday in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Bouchouarab held discussions with Egypt's Minister of Industry and Trade Tareq Qabil, with whom he examined economic cooperation between Algeria and Egypt and ways to further strengthen it. The two sides underlined the importance of the forthcoming session of the Algerian-Egyptian Business Forum, in line with the recommendations of the High Joint Commission.

Bouchouarab also met with Sudanese ministers of Industry and Investment, Abdou Daoud Suleiman and Moudathir Abdulrahman, respectively, with whom he discussed means to strengthen industrial cooperation between the two countries, particularly in food industry.

During his discussions with Jordanian Minister of Trade, Bouchouarab focused on cooperation between Algeria and Jordan, especially in investment in pharmaceutical industry.

The minister also met with many officials participating in the Forum to examine investment opportunities in Algeria and discuss the challenges in the business sector in Africa.

During these discussions, Bouchouarab outlines the economic policy adopted by the Algerian Government to diversify economy by encouraging and supporting investment.

In a statement to the press, Bouchouarab underlined the importance of this Forum for the development of economic cooperation in Africa, stressing the "interest attached by Algeria, under the leadership of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to the promotion and the strengthening of the Pan-African economic cooperation within the framework of an inclusive strategy aiming at establishing a genuine partnership for the benefit of African peoples."

The minister also emphasized the reforms undertaken by Algeria to improve attractiveness of its economy and the Government's industrial strategy, highlighting the investment opportunities in the industrial and mining sector in Algeria.

Many African and foreign heads of State and Government, businessmen, experts and representatives of financial institutions concerned by investment in Africa are participating in the Forum.
