10th Algerian-Vietnamese Joint Intergovernmental Committee in Hanoi

HANOI- The 10th session of Algerian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Committee has got underway Wednesday in Hanoi, Vietnam, to discuss bilateral cooperation in several areas, particularly oil, trade, health, education, agriculture, information, telecommunications and tourism.

The meeting, co-chaired by Minister of Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Amara Benyounes and Vietnamese Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung.

The two sides will discuss the content of five draft cooperation agreements in the areas of health, education, vocational training, tourism and sports.

On this occasion, Benyounes said that the cooperation mechanism (intergovernmental committee) "contributes to strengthening cooperation between the two countries," adding however that "the commercial exchanges remain below the existing potentials."

"Algeria has huge potentials in several fields, including chemistry and agriculture and hopes to cooperate with Vietnam in these areas. It also seeks to attract investments in steel and oil industries, agricultural production, electricity and building, he added.
