18th Annual Conference of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies Investment (WAIPA)

The National Agency of Investment Development (ANDI) participates in the 18th Annual Conference of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), which takes place on 11 and 12 February 2013 in Geneva (Switzerland) .

The Conference of this year, which includes a large number of official representatives of Investment Promotion Agencies (API's), members of the association, as well as world-renowned economists and business leaders, focuses on issues of news related to foreign investment in particular and aims particularly to inculcate to official representatives of API's, knowledge and skills, enabling them to positively influence FDI policy in their respective countries, face to stiff international competition.

During this meeting the following themes will be discussed :

• The investment in infrastructure;

• The effects of rankings on the business environment and appropriate methods of reconsideration of these classifications;

• The Human capital and the innovation of an ecosystem to attract FDI based on knowledge.

Moreover, it is also expected the election of the President, two Vice-Presidents and Regional Directors of North America, Central America and Caribbean, South America, European Union, Eastern Europe, Middle East, North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia, South Caucasus, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania.

It should be noted that the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), whose ANDI is a member, was founded in 1995 and totaled at the end of 2009, 252 adherents Member Agencies from 162 countries around the world.

This massive movement for membership of investment agencies of many countries to WAIPA is explained by the interest in the activities of this international association whose objectives set are:

• To promote and to develop relations and cooperation between Promotion agencies members of WAIPA;

• To strengthen systems for collecting and efficient use of information and to facilitate access to various developed databases;

• To exchange experiences in countries and regions in particular on policies of attracting FDI;

• To assist the API's choice of appropriate policies and strategies for investment promotion;

• To facilitate access to technical assistance and to promote the training of API's.
